Friends,
Earlier today, Mayor Lee Harris and I had great phone call with the Governor. Yesterday, he announced his Economic Recovery Group headed up by the Commissioner of Tourism, Mark Ezell. Over the next several weeks, the group will be working closely with the Governor’s Unified Command to help navigate the bumpy road to our state’s economic recovery.
In our call today, the Governor wanted to lay out his vision for this new group and how we can work together to get Memphis and Shelby County back to work on our own timeline and in a way that is safe and works best for our citizens.
Federal Stimulus
As this update goes out to you today, our team was preparing all the necessary paperwork to make sure the City of Memphis get its fair share of the recently passed federal stimulus dollars that will be coming to the state of Tennessee. It’s estimated that the State will be receive over $2 billion in relief funds, and I wanted you to know we’re going to do everything we can to ensure as much of that money as possible comes to Memphis. I will keep you informed as we move through the process.
